The Hewes Activity Center is approximately 13,000 square feet and is located adjacent to the existing outdoor basketball courts. It includes a lobby, gymnasium/multipurpose area, sports flooring, retractable bleachers, storage space, restrooms, performance area, lighting and two adjoining classrooms.

Additionally, the Hewes PTA has funded 40 new computers for the new computer lab in the activity center.

During the school year, the District is building and opening four new activity centers at Columbus Tustin, Currie, Hewes and Utt middle schools. Columbus Tustinís activity center opened in December, and Currie and Utt will unveil their new activity centers in the coming months.

All four activity centers were designed by NTD Architecture and built by Balfour Beatty Construction. Each project cost approximately $6.5 million and was funded through the Measure L campus modernization program.
